Contributions to the Profession
Vice-President of the Florida State Oriental Medical Association
- Helped formulate the association's by-laws
- Developed a statewide, grass roots lobbying effort during Sunset Review of the Florida Acupuncture Practice Act resulting in legislative vote of approval for continued regulation of the acupuncture profession, even though the Board of Acupuncture had been threatened with deregulation due to an excessive operating deficit

- Helped establish many of the rules regulating the practice of acupuncture in Florida
- Served as liaison between the NCCAOM, the Department of Professional Regulation, and the Board of Acupuncture during negotiations that concluded with the acceptance of the NCCAOM examination as the state acupuncture license exam
President of the Florida State Oriental Medical Association
- Stimulated a six-fold increase in membership
- Worked with the association's lobbyist, Department of Professional Regulation, and the Florida Legislature to draft and successfully lobby for legislation that would simplify administration of the acupuncture licensing process, improve the Board of Acupuncture's financial position, stimulate the growth of the acupuncture profession, raise the professional status of the practice of acupuncture, and improve insurance coverage for acupuncture patients
Member of the Board of Directors of the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine
- Membership Chairman: restructured the association's membership categories, benefits, and dues, doubling the number of members
- Member of the By-Laws Committee: helped redefine the organization's purpose and goals, and rewrote the by-laws
